We asked this years contestants how they were finding the challenge so far, Heres what said…
Frances – “The TMT Challenge is just that…..Challenging”
The support from the gym staff and the camaraderie from the fellow contestants is second to none. On a personal level, the diversity of activities has made the programme interesting and I am enjoying the discipline, the competition and the positivity. Although, normally a positive person, whose glass is half full as opposed to half empty, I relish the support from everyone involved. My weight loss of 2.6 kgs after 2 weeks was very encouraging……a definite plus. I really hope not to be voted
off early and to that end I will be doing my best.
Janet – “I did wonder how I was ever going to keep going”
It is now Week 3, Day 2, 5 hours and 37 minutes of the TMT Challenge and we were asked this morning to write about how we were feeling! Well where do you begin! After day 2, it was really too early to say it was enjoyable as I could hardly get up and down the stairs and I did wonder how I was ever going to keep going. But here I am and I feel so proud that I have been to the gym every day before 8.00am. I have tried everything so far, maybe not that great at things at first but with all of the encouragement which has been amazing I have persevered. I would never have done this without Stephen’s eternal enthusiasm and motivation. However the whole team are there for all of us from yoga, pilates, behaviour change and sharing recipes and motivational chat. All just fabulous.
I have to say this week has been the toughest as we all had to run round City Quay!!!!!! And we had to do it again today!!!! All of this has been helped along with Laura, words of encouragement at the right time, setting up Whats App Group, sending funny facebook messages all to keep us going. Lastly it is a fabulous group of ladies and you can feel the support throughout the whole group. This has transformed my view of gyms completely.
Stuart – “I have had to take 5 mins before I start to drive home”
To start with I found it difficult to not tuck the remaining Christmas chocolate and sweets but keeping a food diary has definitely made me think twice about snacking and my discipline is getting much better as a result of it
When I started the challenge I thought I would be at a disadvantage as I am not training with the rest of the group, due to work constraints, but I am finding the groups at the other classes friendly and encouraging and the trainers even better. During the first training session I felt like I was going to throw up but even after a couple of weeks I have feeling a lot fitter, and have a lot more energy when I get up and throughout the day. As a result of having more energy I have been having a lot less caffeine in the morning. Although I’m feeling fitter the sessions are still not getting any easier, on more than one occasion, after training, I have had to take 5 mins before I start to drive home and I imagine this will continue for quite some time. J At times so far it has been tough but I’m glad I have started the challenge. I just hope I can keep it up and stay with the challenge for the full 12 weeks.
Suzanne – “No more excuses! I have more energy”
I am really, really, enjoying this challenge. I often struggled with maintaining a work/exercise balance; too often I focused on work or I said I ‘couldn’t find the time’. It’s taken only three short weeks to realise that this was complete rubbish! I know now that I am more than capable of fitting in a training session before work and I feel so much better for it. No more excuses! I have more energy, I am making conscious decisions about what I choose to eat, and I am definitely feeling the benefits. Long may it continue!
I was a bit nervous about meeting the other contestants but they’re wonderful group of people and it’s been a pleasure getting to know them all. There’s a great sense of camaraderie, support and team spirit. Likewise, Stephen, Laura, and the rest of the team at Good Health & Fitness have been fantastic, too. They’re always encouraging us, are so supportive, and make sure we are working as hard as we can!
Karen -“I feel an enormous achievement after each session”
Hi everyone it’s been 3 weeks since I started my TMT challenge, and big changes are occurring. My eating habits have changed 100%, lots of fruit and veg and started cooking again, no take aways or alcohol, saving a fortune. I really do enjoy my workouts even though they challenge me I feel an enormous achievement after each session . All the staff have been fantastic, I can’t thank them enough for this opportunity , they all go out of there way to help you achieve your goals. I have become more focused at work and motivated to do jobs I normally put to one side. This challenge has had a knock on effect for my husband as he has nearly lost a stone in weight himself. We are both going to look super fit for our cruise in July , can’t wait! A big thank you to the rest of the team I train with, they are amazing, I don’t want this challenge to end . Thanks to all my friends, family, work colleagues and my husband for there support and sponsorship. Bring on week 4….KK xxxxx
Lynne – “Well we are 3 weeks in and I’m still alive!!”
Well we are 3 weeks in and I’m still alive!!!! After my first workout I thought this challenge would kill me, however as the days have passed I have found that I love it!!
Needless to say my diet has changed dramatically. I had a love of fizzy drinks and savoury snacks and since starting the challenge I’ve not had either and feel so much better for it. I have a new found energy and can face my working day with a much better outlook.
I am eating more now than before but a much more healthy, balanced diet and that along with the daily excercise is making all the difference.
Stephen and Laura have been invaluable to all the challengers and their constant encouragement really spurs you on. Speaking of the challengers, what a great group! We are all taking part for different reasons but all share a common bond. We all want the best for each other and support each other during our workouts. I know we will keep in touch long after the challenge is over!
Marion – “I feel more positive, motivated and confident about myself.”
Hi everyone…..wanted to let you know how things are going with the fitness training. Well we are on week three and although the training is tough & there is a lot of organising to do ( with diet, working etc.) I am absolutely loving this!!!!!:). There are a few reasons for this. The staff at good health & fitness are all absolutely brilliant. They are motivational, friendly, approachable, helpful & have good sense of humour! Our group who are taking part in the challenge are all lovely people & very supportive. I think we all help each other to keep going! We have fantastic support from an experienced dietician who has given us helpful tips to feel fuller for longer…..I think it is the first diet that I have been on and never felt hungry! Although I have had a ‘winter virus’ for the past week I still feel healthier and fitter. I feel more positive, motivated and confident about myself.
I can honestly say that this is the first time that I have enjoyed attending an exercise class…..there’s hope for me yet 🙂
Maxine – This is just week one
This is just week 1…I joined the competition three weeks later than the others knowing I’d be on the back foot due to one of the previous challengers being unable to complete the challenge. To be honest I have found it tough to catch up but I’ve given it 100% every day. Actually I love it, The TMT team are so supportive and always enthusiastic, helping each of us reach our full potential. Every day is a new challenge but I always feel great afterwards. The other contestants are such lovely people…every one! There’s a great sense of peer support and encouragement towards one another. I have noticed a massive difference as the week has gone on, my energy levels have improved, I feel more organised due to meal planning in advance and altogether just better from day to day. I know its only been a week but fingers crossed I can stay in the competition for longer to continue to feel the benefits of TMT.
Karen W – “I am working to achieving more than I thought I could”
With just over 2weeks gone and having to adjust physically and mentally to the hard work our trainer Stephen is putting us through I am really enjoying the experience that the Transform me Challenge is bringing. I am finding things that I’m really enjoying and others that I don’t, but with all the encouragement from Stephen, Laura our Organiser and all my fellow Challengers, now new friends, I am working to achieving more than I thought I could. As soon as you walk into the building everybody is so friendly and you are put at ease.
Rachael – “pushing all of us TMT challengers to focus on ourselves and our individual capabilities”
So the TMT challenge is going well, I can see a difference in my clothes already! Which is awesome, but I also feel fitter and very proud of the fact that I managed to run round ‘the block’ without having to stop☺! The team at GHF have been amazingly supportive, pushing all of us TMT challengers to focus on ourselves and our individual capabilities. We have also had support from Alison the dietician who is lovely and helped me identify ways in which I can keep feelings of hunger at bay! Louise also talked about the psychology behind our eating and ways to sustain our motivation, some of which really hit a cord with me.
